The Therapy.

When you come to see me, the focus is on you and your needs. I practice within a trauma-informed framework, respecting that each individual knows their own experiences and circumstances best. Not only do you set the pace, you can also change the pace anytime.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I often use an integrated approach, meaning we will assess your needs, a customize a plan that will hit all the marks.

If you're unsure if we would be a good fit, let's chat. Reach out for a discovery call, i'd love to hear about your counselling needs, and share how my approaches may benefit you.

Trauma

Not all trauma comes from a single life-shattering event. We often don't think of that one time a friend made a comment that put you down and has stuck with you, been reinforced for years, leading to self doubt or lack of trust in yourself. Low-level trauma can cause just as much distress and disruption in your everyday life. Subtle emotional wounds, or repeated experiences, can result in a trauma response such as emotional numbness, low self-worth, or ongoing anxiety. My approach to trauma is to support you as non-invasively as possible to cope, and heal.

2

Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural response to stress, and actually very normal for all humans to experience in some capacity.  Persistent and ongoing anxiety can become problematic when it interferes with your daily functioning, relationships, and general sense of wellness. I address anxiety in two ways; develop coping skills for symptoms, and assess and treat the larger cause.

3

Reproductive Mental Health

Whether your'e starting your family planning, struggling with infertility, pregnant, postpartum, navigating loss, or choosing not to have children, I am here for you. Each person has a reproductive story and i'd be honoured to support you in exploring something so deeply personal. Each experience comes with complex emotions, stress, and grief. I will walk alongside you as we address identity shifts, mental health symptoms, and to process your experiences.

4

Lifestyle Changes

My years in the realm of substance use are still a major part of my practice. I recognize that alcohol and substances can play so many roles in our lives and I'd love to explore this with you. Whether you want to understand how they help you, or curious about taking a month off, I'm here for you. I have also learnt that the skills to cope, and navigate change, can easily be applied to other kinds of lifestyle changes such as dietary changes or cutting back on your screen time. I will work with you to address any barriers, and develop a plan of action.

5

Transitions

Life is full of changes; some we choose, and some we don't plan at all. Even positive changes can stir up mixed emotions, grief, or a general sense of overwhelm. Whether you're adjusting to retirement, moving to a new city, or coping with a diagnosis, you don't have to go through it alone. I help people move through life transitions with clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.

Let's do this.
